This cozy sip captures everything we love about fall in one fragrant pot. Fresh apple cider simmers with cinnamon sticks, cloves, and slices of orange until the kitchen fills with the most comforting aroma. The flavors deepen as it warms, creating a drink that’s gently spiced, naturally sweet, and perfect for serving at gatherings or enjoying by the fireside. It’s simple, nostalgic, and exactly what a chilly day calls for.
Ingredients
• 1 gallon apple cider, not apple juice
• 1 orange, sliced
• 3 cinnamon sticks
• 6–8 whole cloves
• 3 whole allspice berries, optional
• 1–2 tablespoons maple syrup or brown sugar, to taste
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, optional, but delicious
• Garnish: extra orange, apple slices, or cinnamon sticks
Instruction
Pour the apple cider into a large pot and set it over medium heat.
Add the orange slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and allspice if using. Bring the cider just to a bare simmer — don’t boil — then reduce the heat to low. Allow it to gently warm for 20–30 minutes so the spices infuse fully.
Taste and sweeten with maple syrup or brown sugar, adjusting to your preference. Stir in the vanilla extract right at the end for extra warmth and depth.
Ladle into mugs and garnish with a fresh orange slice or cinnamon stick. Serve warm and enjoy!
